Look Within

Because gut feelings aren't based on facts or logic, clearing your head can help you be more intuitive. Try these tips.

  • Do a Three-Minute Mediatation
"Meditating is like strengthening your intuitive muscles," says Judith Orloff, M.D., author of Intuitive Healing. Sit quietly and calm your mind by focusing on your breathing. Let yourself rest and be in the moment, and notice if any thoughts or images come to you. The more you practice, the more you'll be able to hear your body's clear, simple messages.

  • Keep a Dream Journal
Dreams are often hard to interpret, but decoding them can put you in touch with your intuition, says Orloff. She recommends you ask a pointed question, like, "How can I lessen the stress in my life?" before going to bed-then record your dreams in the morning. Before long, you'll start to uncover insights that can heighten your self-awareness and help you make better decisions.
