Marinated Strawberries

Rose water, available at specialty grocery stores and Middle Eastern markets, gives this ultra-simple dessert a sophisticated bouquet.

Serves 8

10 cups washed and quartered strawberries (about 5 pints)
2 tablespoons rose water
sugar to taste


1. Toss the berries with rose water and sugar. Refrigerate, covered, for at least 3 hours, but not more than 6. Gently stir from time to time. Bring to room temperature before serving.
