Free Skin Cancer Screenings

Protect yourself against skin cancer by getting regular screenings.

Skin cancer screenings take about 10 minutes: A dermatologist looks over your face, neck, arms, and hands, or performs a full–body screen in a private office. The following screenings are free during May, National Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and some continue through the year.

1. The Skin Cancer Foundation, with corporate partners like Aveeno, will launch a cross–country tour in May, with screenings available in mobile units in public spaces such as Rite Aid parking lots (skincancer.org).

2. The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and beauty company Olay offer free screenings throughout May at participating dermatologists' offices (skincancertakesfriends.org).

3. The American Academy of Dermatology partners with dermatologists across the U.S. to provide free skin cancer screenings in various locations. Most screenings take place throughout the spring, though many dermatologists volunteer year–round (aad.org).
