Organic Ice Cream

More and more ice cream brands are going organic, which means they're free of additives like antibiotics and the growth hormone rBGH. We tasted dozens of varieties and thought these four were the cream of the crop.

Stonyfield Farm Crème Caramel ($3.50/pint; stonyfield.com) This rich, creamy treat is like an all-in-one sundae-it's swirled with a generous amount of caramel that's sweet but not too sugary.	Breyers Organic Coffee ($6/quart; breyers.com) Ice cream heavyweight Breyers is now thinking "green": The company sourced certified organic coffee beans to make this perky java-flavored variety.
PJ Madison's Ramona Chocolate ($4.50/pint; pjmadisons.com) Antioxidant-rich dark chocolate gives this gelato-style ice cream a sophisticated, bittersweet flavor that will appeal to the adults at the table.	Green & Black's Vanilla ($4.50/pint; greenandblacks.com) The real vanilla-bean specks in this velvetysmooth ice cream make it taste fresher and more pure than the usual artificial vanilla varieties.
