Asics Kinsei Low Cut Socks

Workout socks that are worth every penny

Christine Richmond, Senior Editor

Before I slipped on a pair of Kinsei Low Cut athletic socks from Asics ($16; asicsamerica.com), I didn't give much thought to the socks I wore during my workouts—and I certainly didn't spend $16 on them. Turns out, the Asics are worth every penny. For starters, they're curved like shoes to better fit your feet (they come labeled "L" and "R")—which means no more bunched fabric around your toes and ankles. (Other companies like Nike and PowerSox are also making left- and right-specific socks, and I think it's brilliant.) In addition, the socks provide extra padding for your heels and toes and compression around your arch for support (that's what the orange stitching is). Although they're socks, they fit like a glove—and because they're made of a moisture-wicking blend of nylon, polyester, and spandex, they'll keep your feet dry, too. I wonder how I jogged a mile without them.
