Water is the perfect medium for exercise: It's relaxing and cooling, provides a protective cushion while countering the effects of gravity, and leaves you feeling refreshed and loose. After you jump in the pool and warm up, try this simple but effective move:

Water Squats
Benefit: Works the thighs and buttocks and strengthens the knees
Stand in chest-deep water about two feet from the pool's side, facing it. (a) Hold the pool's edge with both hands, and slowly bend your knees and lower into a squat, pushing your buttocks behind you like you're sitting in a chair. (b) Squat until your chin hits the water, then slowly rise and repeat.
