I never thought hemp would be a part of my diet until I tried Living Harvest's line of hemp milks ($4 to $5 for a 32-ounce package; livingharvest.com). Now I drink a glass of the chocolate milk after a workout to give my body a protein boost (and 46 percent of my daily calcium), pour the original flavor over my breakfast cereal, and mix the vanilla with berries to make smoothies. I find all three flavors smooth and creamy with a mild nutty taste. I like the health benefits, too: Hemp seeds—also known as hemp nuts—contain all ten essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals like magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus, and omega-3 fatty acids. They're also rich in easy-to-digest protein. Best of all, the milks are made from sustainably farmed, non-genetically-modified hemp seeds and are available at Whole Foods Markets nationwide.
