New York School Switches to All-Vegetarian Menu

Good-bye chicken nuggets. Hello tofu.

P.S. 244 in New York City has become the first public school to have an all-vegetarian cafeteria. The school's menu was developed with the help of New York Coalition for Healthy School Food (NYCHSF) and recipes are being released to over 14,000 schools nationwide, through a joint effort with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. NYCHSF is a non-profit that introduces plant-based foods and nutrition education in schools to educate the whole school community. Founded in 2005 by the American Heart Association and William J. Clinton Foundation, the Alliance works to positively affect the places that can make a difference in a child’s health: homes, schools, doctor’s offices, and communities.
