Aveda's Catwalk for Water!
Aveda creates effortless, eco-chic styles at New York Fashion Week
This weekend I was able to pop in backstage at New York Fashion Week to watch the models get glammed up for the Rebecca Taylor show (my favorite designer!) Rebecca Taylor partnered up with Aveda to create a gorgeous spring 'do using their eco-friendly products and practices.
The Scoop: Since 2007 Aveda has raised more than $20 million to help make clean water accessible world wide, through programs such as the Aveda Earth Month Initiative and the Green Backstage Program! As part of the Green Backstage Program, all designers that partner with Aveda at New York Fashion Week have agreed to replace backstage bottled water with NYC tap water, and to even eliminate the use of fur in their collections - bravo! Aveda also provides all organic and locally sourced food backstage at the shows.
The Look: Frank Rizzieri and Kevin Ryan for Aveda created a look for the Rebecca Taylor Spring/Summer 2013 collection they described as “wind-blown, road trip style hair” for Rebecca Taylor’s Spring 2013 collection. “Think of driving along the coast with the windows down – sexy, pretty, natural,” says Kevin Ryan. We're all about this natural, easy style - and our busy schedules are definitely grateful that the "undone" look is in!
To get this effortless look:
1: Spritz hair with Aveda Pure Abundance Style Prep from roots to ends and blow dry hair away from the face.
2: Part hair on the left side.
3. Use a beveled flat iron or large curling iron to direct hair back away from the face, starting at the hairline around your face, working backward.
4. Mist with Aveda Air Control Hairspray, while massaging and tousling hair. You can even blow your hair back with the hair dryer to mimic the windblown effect!
