Honey, Honey

Honey is a wonderfully versatile beauty ingredient, says Christopher Watt, an aesthetician in Los Angeles. For a basic hydrating and exfoliating honey treatment, apply 100 percent honey to a damp face, leave it on for ten minutes, and rinse off. Or try one of these recipes, designed by Watt exclusively for Natural Health.

Honey, Banana, and Apple Face Mask
The malic acid in the apple and the honey help shed dead skin and rejuvenate your complexion. Plus, the banana is soothing-perfect for sensitive skin.

What you'll need:
½ cup honey
¼ cup plain yogurt
½cup raw oatmeal
1 egg white
½ banana
½ apple, cored

Place ingredients in blender or food processor and combine until smooth. Apply to clean skin and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse and remove mask with damp cloth. Pat skin dry and apply a moisturizer.

Grape, Blackberry, and Honey Mask
This is a great firming and exfoliating mask for all skin types. Grapes contain tartaric acid, an alpha hydroxy acid that helps firm skin; seeds of the blackberries provide gentle exfoliation; and honey smoothes, firms, and rejuvenates the skin.

½ cup seedless red grapes
½ cup fresh blackberries
¼ cup plain yogurt
½ cup honey
½ banana
¼ cup soy powder (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Apply to clean skin and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse and remove mask with damp cloth. Pat skin dry and apply a moisturizer.
