Refresh the sensitive skin around your eyes with these lotions.

Moisture-robbing winds, overuse of hot water (especially during cold and flu season), and excess caffeine or sodium can all dry out the delicate skin under your eyes, says Sherwin Parikh, M.D., a dermatologist at the Tribeca Skin Center in New York City. To rescue this area, try one of the following eye creams. (And remember: Wear sunscreen and big sunglasses for added outdoor protection.)

Best for sun protection
Dove ProAge Eye Treatment SPF 8 ($13.50; at drugstores): With SPF 8 for sun protection, glycerin to hydrate and improve skin-cell turnover, and light-diffusing optics to brighten, this easily absorbed, lightweight cream is perfect for everyday use under makeup, both under eyes and above eyelids.

Best for under-eye circles
Nature's Gate Ultimate Comfort Eye Cream ($14.99; natures-gate.com): Eight essential amino acids and sodium PCA, a natural humectant that draws moisture to the skin, help hydrate, while extracts of eyebright, chamomile, and cucumber brighten and soothe. As a bonus, the cream's pump dispenses just the right amount, keeping application tidy.

Best for sensitive skin
Weleda Wild Rose Intensive Eye Cream ($25; weleda.com): Fragrance-free and lightweight, this cream soothes with Biodynamic eyebright—an herb often used to treat redness, swelling, and inflammation of the eyes—and helps to prevent wrinkles and puffiness with organic rosehip oil. It works well under makeup, so you can use it both during the day and before bed.

Best for anti-aging
Vichy Meokine Intensive Wrinkle Corrector Care Eye with Periphery Zone ($28; vichyusa.com): Made with thermal spa water that has 15 mineral salts and elements including calcium and magnesium, this hydrating cream strengthens the skin's natural ability to protect itself. Caffeine works to improve circulation, and peptides stimulate collagen production to minimize wrinkles and fine lines.
